Revenue Model

OYO operates primarily through an asset-light business model, making it a lean and scalable operation.

  1. Revenue Share Model:
    OYO earns an average 20% to 35% of Gross Booking Value (GBV) from storefronts listed on its platform. This aligns its success with that of its Patrons.

  2. Listing Service:
    Patrons can also opt for a subscription-based listing service where they pay a fixed fee to list their properties on OYO’s platform.


Asset-Light Approach

OYO’s asset-light model means the company doesn’t own the properties listed on its platform. By March 31, 2021, 99.9% of storefronts on OYO’s platform did not have contracts with minimum guarantees or fixed payouts, making OYO’s cost structure more sustainable. The Patrons bear most operational costs, capital expenditures, and employee costs.

As of March 31, 2021, OYO had 157,344 storefronts listed across 35+ countries, making it one of the largest players in India and Southeast Asia (SEA) and the second-largest in Europe in terms of home storefronts.
